Prof. Martin Stratmann, the president of the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (MPG), recently visited LNGS.
MPG operates about 80 research institutes in all fields of science, including the Max-Planck-Institute für Kernphysik (MPIK) in Heidelberg and the Max-Planck-Institut für Physik (MPP) in Munich which both have significant involvements in experiments at LNGS.
Prof. Stratmann visited the underground laboratory where he had a guided tour of activities with MPG involvement: GERDA (MPIK and MPP), CRESST (MPP), XENON1T (MPIK) and the GeMPI screening facilitiy (MPIK).
