L. Bignell - SABRE South and the search for dark matter in Australia

The SABRE experiment is a dark matter direct detection experiment that uses ultrapure NaI:Tl as its target detector. SABRE seeks to definitively confirm or refute the DAMA annual modulation signal as evidence for dark matter. SABRE will operate two full-scale detectors, at LNGS (SABRE North) and at a new underground laboratory in Australia (SABRE South). This talk will focus on the design, status, and ongoing activities of SABRE South, including in particular recent quenching factor measurements. An overview of other dark matter research activities underway in Australia will be presented too.
