CUORE event
Description:

The possibility that neutrinos could be described in a different way with respect to all the other fermions was suggested by Ettore Majorana in 1937. After 80 years this hypothesis is still lacking an experimental proof. The CUORE experiment (Cryogenic Underground Observatory for Rare Events) is designed to confirm the existence of the Majorana neutrino, thus providing an answer to one of the most longstanding open questions in our descriptions of elementary particles.
CUORE construction has been completed in 2016 and the experiment has started collecting data since April 2017 in the underground Laboratory.
