Li Ruiyu Ambassador of People’s Republic of China (PRC) visited the Gran Sasso National Laboratory

Li Ruiyu Ambassador of People’s Republic of China (PRC) for Italy visited today the I.N.F.N. Gran Sasso National Laboratory The visit is part of the Italy - China cooperation in the scientific field.

"I am very pleased to have the opportunity to visit the Gran Sasso National Laboratory, of which so far I have only heard; I am very excited to visit them in person,” said the Ambassador Li Ruiyu. The President, Prof. Fernando Ferroni and the Director, Prof. Stefano Ragazzi, have provided an explanatory framework of the activities and experiments carried out in the laboratories, letting him visit the underground structures, to discover the experiments that are being carried out.

The Ambassador had the opportunity to meet and exchange jokes with young Chinese researchers engaged in their training at the laboratories.“Scientists are good at exploring things that we don’t know at the moment" underlined the Ambassador.

He highlighted the strength of cooperation between the two countries, pointing out that Italian scientists have helped Chinese scientists to build a laboratory of this kind in Tibet. "Many years ago when I visited Tibet, I visited the lab and my colleagues told me that it was built by our Italian friends," said the Ambassador. "I am convinced that with our joint efforts we can do even more to strengthen our cooperation in this field," concluded the Ambassador.
