Windows 8 Istructions

Follow these steps to setup eduroam or INFN-dot1x Wireless on Windows 8.

 

It is not necessary in Windows 8 install SecureW2 because the operating system supports EAP-TTLS method.

 

Open Network and Sharing Center. Select Set up a new connection or network.

When the dialog opens select Manually connect to a wireless network and click Next.

The Manually connect to a wireless network dialog box appears. Make the following entries in that box.

  1. Enter eduroam or INFN-dot1x as the Network name.
  2. Select WPA2-Enterprise as the Security type.
  3. Select AES as the Encryption type.
  4. Leave Security Key blank.
  5. Select Start this connection automatically check box.

The dialog box will look like:

Click Next. When the following dialog box appears, click on Change connection settings.

Select Change connection settings. Click on the Security tab in Wireless Network Properties window.

Verify that the dialog box looks like the one below. Make appropriate changes if it does not.

Click on the Settings button to display the next dialog box. In the opened window select PAP as Network Authetication Method in the Client Authetication section.

Click on Advanced Settings button, select User Authentication and push Credentials Save button inserting:

Username: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Password: "user password".

Click OK button to complete the changes.

The Manually connect to a wireless network dialog box will appear and will indicate that eduroam or INFN-dot1x has been successfully added. Click the Close button.

Go to the lower right corner of the Start screen. Click there to display the charms then select Settings.

The list of available wireless networks will appear. Select the new network and then click on Connect.
