Waiting for Famelab

Over the last twenty years the number and quality of public speaking events have increased all over the world:

TED talks, elevator talks as well as PechaKucha events are just few examples showing how, quickness combined with exactitude and visibility can provide strong communication values and skills for researchers who want to effectively engage with different audiences.

During the seminar planned for March 8th at 2.30 p.m. a specific example of public speaking event will be presented and discussed namely FameLab (www.famelab-italy.it).

FameLab is an international competition where researchers are expected to present a scientific content in 3 minutes without using pictures and images but just words. A local heat of FameLab will take place in L’Aquila on March 16th at the Auditorium del Parco.

Challenges and the opportunities of such a competition will be discussed with Leonardo Alfonsi, science communicator and coordinator of FameLab Italy and Luca Serani actor and coach. A set of examples to develope an effective talk will be presented to participants who will experience the atmosphere of a communication event.
