Activities and support provided by Chemistry and Chemical Plant Service (C-CPS)
-
Management of the Laboratory of Chemistry. Management of the Clean Room ISO6 cleanliness class.
-
Users support in activities such as: chemical and instrumental analysis; physical-chemical parameters measurement; cleaning of metals, or of metallic surfaces, cleaning of parts or components of plants or devices, cleaning of parts or components of electronics, and many other kinds of materials.
-
For analytical measurements, the Laboratory of Chemistry is equipped as follows: Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS); Gas Chromatography (GC); Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS); UV-VIS Spectrophotometer; Spectrofluorometer; Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS); High Resolution Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (HR-ICP-MS); Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS).
-
Trace elements analysis (e.g. U, Th, K, Pb) with sensitivity up to ppq (10 -15 g/g) by ICP-MS and HR-ICP-MS (located inside the Clean Room); isotopic analysis (TIMS). Development of new analytical techniques and sample preparation with complex matrixes too.
-
Management of the Service for the purchase and use of compressed and liquefied gases, cryogenic liquids and the relative auxiliary equipments (supply contracts; order and delivery procedures; cylinders and cylinder packs internal handling; cryogenic liquids storage; maintenance; failure corrective actions).
-
Technical support for the construction and running of Chemical Plants (absorption, stripping, distillation, reverse osmosis and demineralization systems, storage and fluid handling facilities); support for the management of facilities for cryogenic liquids, evaporated and compressed gases.
