The US Department of Energy (DoE) and the National Institute for Nuclear Physics - Italy (INFN) announce the 2019 Summer Exchange Program edition, addressed to US and Italian students in science and engineering.
Students are given a chance to work on projects that will deepen their experience in the fields of science and technology which are relevant for their academic training.
The Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS ) is one of the four INFN National laboratories. It is the largest underground laboratory in the world for experiments in particle physics and nuclear astrophysics.
In particular, the following LNGS group has expressed an interest in the program: LUNA experiment.
For this edition, in fact, TWO positions are available for:
Title: Characterization of a neutron detector array for low energy nuclear astrophysics at LUNA.
Description: In the framework of the LUNA project (Laboratory for Underground Nuclear Astrophysics) a renewed study of the 13C(alpha,n)16O reaction is presently been carried out at LNGS. In this context also a dedicated neutron detector array has been developed and set up.Tutors: László Csedreki (JLIB_HTML_CLOAKING)
